Coalition for the Ecological Recovery in Organics

OUR MISSION

The Coalition for the Ecological Recovery in Organics, or CERO, is a group of growers, independent companies, scientists, and environmental stewards who are focused on supporting the growing organic community in the U.S. and spurring innovation in yield-enhancing inputs that foster soil health while also providing significant environmental benefits and food safety.

CERO strives to communicate the science and promise behind such innovations to the organic industry, driving understanding and acceptance. Many of these innovations are novel technologies, which will not only produce more fertility options for the organic farmer, but also improve environmental sustainability through the manufacturing processes. This supports the National Organic Program’s (NOP) mission by providing climate-smart products which drive organic producers’ ability to responsibly produce food. Additionally, CERO wants to serve as a resource to the policy and regulatory community, helping them understand the science behind these new yield-enhancing inputs.

OUR GOALS

  • To ensure unreasonable regulations do not impede innovation in organic production.

  • To recover nutrients in stable fertilizers which minimize the environmental and public health impact associated with naturally occurring waste streams.

  • To encourage the use of liquid fertilizer products that regenerate soil biology.

  • To provide efficient methods for organic growers to increase acres dedicated to organic production and to improve productivity of those acres, strengthening rural communities.

  • To increase cost-effective and equitable consumer access to organically produced food.
